MANILA, Philippines—Barangay Ginebra guard Scottie Thompson reached another milestone this PBA season.
Thompson recently became the latest member of the PBA’s 1,000-offensive rebound club, an elite company dominated by big men led by the likes of Ramon Fernandez, Philip Cezar, and Abet Guidaben to name a few.

It marked his fourth PBA Career Achievement Award of the season–a first in the league, according to PBA chief statistician Fidel Mangonon.
Just this season alone, Thomspon also grabbed his 2,000th defensive rebound in Game 4 of the PBA Governors’ Cup, dished out his 2,000th assist in the Commissioner’s Cup and tallied his 500th steal last month.
The 6-foot-1 Thompson became just the 56th player and the only guard among the eight active players with at least 1,000 offensive rebounds.
He was honored by the PBA during the Gin Kings’ 98-80 victory over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Sunday in the final game of the Philippine Cup eliminations. The win earned Ginebra the last twice-to-beat advantage.

Thompson, a member of the league’s 50 Greatest Players, had his usual all-around game with eight points, nine rebounds and five assists.
The Gilas Pilipinas mainstay achieved the feat when Ginebra beat TNT, 97-87, on June 8. He tallied his 999th and 1000th in the third quarter of the game.
Thompson and Ginebra face Converge on Friday in the quarterfinals.
